Contributor Spotlight - Lou & Barb Karwowski

Lou and Barb have been wonderful in helping with the set up and management of NY's Capital Region Vegetarian Expo. They could be found registering exhibitors, manning a booth and giving advice to attendees.

"After assisting with the registration of vendors, we interacted with several attendees who are currently on the standard American diet. We explained that vegetarianism or veganism can be taken in transition such as weaning off insidious dairy products, then meat & poultry etc. Only then, when their blood tests improve, will they realize what the expo is about. When that occurs, I feel that we have done our job".

Lou feels Vegetarianism in the U.S. today appears to be gaining in popularity. "In my youth to this day, I have always detested the killing & maiming of animals. I have never liked hunting, fishing, horse & dog racing or circuses & rodeos. These animals are exploited to provide a sport & revenue stream to individuals & owners. To this end, I have aspired to a vegan diet for the past 16 years, thus gaining the health benefits that it has provided me. I would recommend this lifestyle to anybody that has concerns for the well-being of animals and/or health issues".

The Albany Vegetarian Network Inc. truly appreciates their support and spirit!
Thank you, Lou and Barb!
